According to the proverb, only three things in life are certain: death, taxes, and Apple's September event.
The corporation will (likely) announce a host of new products next month, with the formal date set for September 7th. And, if rumors are to be believed, there may be much to look forward to during Apple's 'Far Out' event.
From the iPhone 14 to the Apple Watch Series 8, there are a few items that appear to be a foregone conclusion this year. However, the iPad and AirPods lineups may also receive some attention, and there may even be a surprise or two in store. Here's a rundown of everything we're hoping to see - and if you're eager, check out the greatest Apple offers available right now.
iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro
This is the most obvious. Apple has released a new iPhone every September since 2009 (except for 2020, when the pandemic delayed things by a month), and we don't anticipate things to change in 2022. And, as with every year, the rumor mill has been spinning out endless rumors about Apple's upcoming smartphone.
From the removal of the notch to the addition of an always-on display, it seems that the Pro model will receive some intriguing enhancements. According to rumors, Apple intends to separate the ordinary and high-end iPhones more than usual this year, with the basic iPhone 14 not even receiving a chip upgrade. And if you like little phones, you might want to hold on to your iPhone 13 mini - persistent rumors indicate that Apple will discontinue the iPhone mini this year, replacing it with a larger, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max'.
Apple Watch Series 8
The Apple Watch often receives an upgrade at the same time as the iPhone 14, though modifications to Apple's wearable are often more subtle. Except for a slightly larger screen (which enabled for the world's tiniest qwerty keyboard), last year's Apple Watch Series 7 offered no improvement over the 6. However, while the Apple Watch Series 8 (opens in new tab) is believed to have the same design (again! ), rumors of a totally new Watch model are more intriguing.
According to reports, the Apple Watch Pro will be the first makeover since the Apple Watch Series 4. (when things got a tiny bit rounder and thinner). In addition to a temperature sensor and a low-power mode (for longer battery life), the Apple Watch 'Pro' will reportedly be accessible only in super-tough titanium.
Ipad (10 Generation)
The entry-level iPad is one Apple device that could use some design love. The only model that still has a home button (and lacks functionality for the Apple Pencil 2), the cheapest iPad, is getting on in years. However, rumors suggest that this may alter in 2022.
Leaked CAD files have provided us with our first claim to look at the design for the 10th generation iPad, revealing something closer to the iPad Air and iPad Pro, complete with flat corners, quad speakers, and an LED flash. Surprisingly, these images still show the home button - and it's unclear whether it'll have a Lightning port or switch to USB-C.
Airpods Pro
Despite their title, the AirPods Pro is beginning to show signs of aging. Apple's high-end earbuds, first unveiled in 2019, haven't been updated in three years. However, rumor has it that some fairly fascinating (and, in some cases, disturbing) new features are on the way.
We've heard a lot of rumors about the iconic stem of the AirPods Pro disappearing soon. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the AirPods Pro will have "a completely new design that does away with the small stem that comes out of the bottom for a shape akin to the Beats Fit Pro."
But it's some of the rumored features that have grabbed our interest. Apple is also believed to be working on an impressive (and slightly disturbing) new security feature that would allow the AirPods to identify the user based on the shape of their ear or their walking motion. To us, it all seems a touch dystopian, but additional security could be a positive factor. There are some pretty strange rumors as well, such as Apple adding the ability to manage your AirPods with your teeth (yes, you read that right).
