Students are the most important part of every building nation and have a huge role in the development and betterment of society and country.
Studying helps students to enhance their knowledge and education makes them professionals to serve the country and society. But in recent years, we have seen a trend of lack of student's interest in studies which has led to the failure of projects and unemployment due to the lack of professional students. As a result of the lack of interest of university students in education, students won't be able to maximize their potential of doing creative work and projects and cannot perform better in their jobs. There are many reasons why students lack in studies such as a bad learning environment, overuse of electronic devices, excessive gaming, and many more.
One of the main reasons students lack interest in studies is that they see little value in the subject and its content because teachers do not specify the goals, objectives, and benefits of the course and students don't know the goals of the course. Students have less interest in the course and don't participate in the activities and classroom learning as they are not aware of the objectives and outcomes of the subject. It has a huge impact on the results of students. They score less in exams and waste their time in the classroom without getting knowledge of the subject.
The low level and less effective teaching method in the universities is another significant cause behind the lack of interest of students in studies. Teachers do not take it seriously to respond to the relevant and logical queries of students and don't give quick responses to the students. Teachers don't conduct any activities and competitions in the classroom to engage students and don't guide them properly in their learning problems.
Students are not engaged by teachers during lectures due to which they show disinterest in studies and do not get sufficient knowledge for which they have taken admission to the university. Teachers do not encourage students for studies which also results in the decline of interest of students in studies. The teaching method has wide effects on students, from developing students' interest in attending classes, paying attention to the lecture, and lastly urging them to learn and get high marks.
Another purpose behind the students' lack of interest in studies is the technological advancement and movie and gaming craze. Technology has introduced mobile phones for convenience and different types of attractive electronic devices but the overuse and misuse of electronic devices among students have played a huge role in creating a lack of interest in students in studies.
They use mobile phones for useless purposes for many hours instead of investing their precious time in learning. They watch movies, and series on Netflix and play video games for hours without caring about the results of studies. This habit of students has put bad effects on their study skills and the effects will be long-lasting.
